The goal of our Cooperative is to offer the consumer the choice of our fresh, high quality, locally grown foods and by doing so, create a stable, local market for the farmers within our cooperative.
BIG NORTH Farmer's Co-op invests in the future of our community by encouraging and mentoring young people to farm organically.
All meats from BIG NORTH Farmer's Co-op are either, organically certified, organically raised, or raised naturally, guaranteed free of antibiotics and hormones which the animals do not make themselves. Co-op members pledge to humanely threat their animals and work with the environment and nature to offer the healthiest possible products with the least environmental impact.
~ Krause Organic Farms ~
Greg & Diane Krause along with son Brian, are working the family farm that was homesteaded by Greg's grandfather, Adam Krause of Engadine, Michigan. Together, they raised Certified Organic beef and pork as well as several different kinds of organic vegetables. Diane considered their combined background in teaching biology and health care along with the experience and knowledge they had gained from multi-generation farming, organic seemed the only logical and ethical way to farm.
Our ground beef is normally packaged in
either 1 or 1 1/2 pound packages.
Steaks like Rib eye, NY Strip, etc. are in
packages of two and weigh from 3/4 to 1 1/4 pounds.
Round and sirloin are also done boneless and
in smaller packages.
Our soup bones (great for making stock)
usually are packaged either side of 3 pounds.
We gladly accept special orders for other size
packaging or custom cuts, however we do ask
you to please allow some lead time.
