A March 20th fire at the New Engadine County Garage was spotted at approximately 1:20 a.m. by a MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) night patroller.

12 trucks, 5 sand trucks, a grater, loader, new tools, snow blower, 3 new Peter Built trucks and more were a total loss in the early morning fire.

45 fire fighters from Garfield, Hudson, Newton and the Village of Newberry fire departments were on the scene for many hours.

The Engadine County Garage has shifted their operations to the Gould City Garage.

Surrounding counties and MDOT have offered their trucks and equipment.

The Gaylord fire marshal was on the site to begin investigating the cause of the fire.

People in the community, up to at least a mile away, were woke up with the sound of what some say, “A Cannon going off”. The bright orange glow lit up the sky, which could be seen for miles.

The Engadine County Garage was just dedicated and put into use in mid December.

Thankfully no one was injured while fighting this intense early morning blaze, which was a total loss.
